In Platform, Michael Hyatt reminds us that what we make or sell should be a WOW experience (exceeding our expectations.) One element of that could be Surprise. When someone sees or holds a new product, does it grab their attention. When someone hears what you have to say, are they surprised (in a good kind of way?) What can you add to build up that surprise element? I was surprised watching Olympians from Great Britain jump into the whitewater after winning gold and silver in their canoeing competition. Their joy was obvious as they pulled their coaches in as well.
Another element is anticipation. Did you plan a vacation recently, and eagerly anticipate the things you would do on that trip? The first time you go on a cruise, you may not know what to expect, but the next time you begin thinking about the experience far in advance. You may mentally arrange a list of the things you are planning to enjoy. Your anticipation builds each day as the special time approaches. Anticipating something can be almost as good as the experience itself. Can you think of a WOW experience right now? Is it related to school or a club, or maybe a sporting event? It probably involves some surprise and/or anticipation.
